Being a wedding photographer, I love a wedding (shock horror!). Sometimes, when it comes to getting inspired, it’s nice to dream a little and so I look to the celebs for a touch of luxury. As we approach the end of the year, it’s the perfect opportunity to take a gander at just a few of the celebrity weddings that have already happened in 2016, and what a year it’s been! Here are just a few of my favourite celebrity brides and the stunning couture dresses they donned for the occasion. Get ready to swoon ladies…
Hailed as one of the UK’s top models and with bagfuls of attitude, I wasn’t expecting anything short of quirky from Agyness Deyne and thankfully she didn’t let me down. As she wed Joel McAndrew in a ceremony in Brooklyn Heights, New York City, the bride wore a terrific tulle creation by Milly Goddard. The white and blush pink gown with ruffled sleeves and layers of tulle fell above her ankles to reveal her something blue in the form of teal bejewelled pumps. Her accessories included a simple pair of teardrop earrings and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white and brown flowers. Her dashing husband wore a white suit with blue shirt and tie and brown loafers. The pairing have definitely set the fashion stakes high for celebrity weddings which follow.
Singer Ciara married American football player, Russell Wilson in a fairytale Cheshire castle. Her wedding dress was custom made by creative director of Roberto Cavalli, Peter Dundas, who was even on-hand on the day to ensure the dress looked flawless! The spectacular creation included bell sleeves and a lace-up corset, paired with a romantic veil. The elegance continued as a bevy of beauties, including Kelly Rowland, donned black floor length bridesmaid dresses.
Actress Eva Longoria said her “I dos” to Jose ‘Pepe’ Antonio Baston in Mexico, wearing a dress designed by her bessie, Victoria Beckham! Eva revealed to Hello! Magazine the reason behind her decision: “I asked Victoria to do my dress because I wanted it to be special and made with love – and I knew Victoria would make it with love.” The simple but elegant white fitted gown had a sweetheart neckline on a bodice-fitted top. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Mrs Beckham!
Fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia showed us how it’s done when she married real estate tycoon, Oscar Engelbert on the island of Capri in June. She donned an epic full-skirted Alexander McQueen couture piece, before changing into into a caped Giambattista Valli dress, paired with thigh high Monolo Blahnik boots. The dress changes continued as she wore a spangled 1290s inspired Prada number for the post-wedding celebrations. Before the Capri spectacular, the couple wed in Stockholm, which saw Giovanna marry Oscar in a custom-made caped Valentino creation. That girl knows how to rock a costume change!
The Coronation Street actress married fitness consultant Tom Pitfield at a star-studded affair at Colshaw Hall, Cheshire. Catherine wore a bespoke lace, fishtail Philip Armstrong gown before changing into a Grecian inspired bespoke halter-neck ivory silk gown by Mark Melia for the reception. Two completely different looks, but I love them both!
Kimberley Walsh and Justin Scott opted for a destination wedding, with the beautiful Barbados chosen for the occasion. Kimberley epitomised bridal beauty, with Girls Aloud bandmates, Nicola Roberts and Cherly Fernandez-Versini at her side as bridesmaids. She chose a bespoke lace and silk gown by Berta Bridal, featuring an of-the-moment illusion lace neckline with dramatic side split! Wowsers!
